Horizontal lathe machine tools are used for cutting, shaping, drilling, and turning metal workpieces. They consist of several components, including a bed, a tailstock, a headstock, a carriage, a cross slide, and a feed rod.
The bed is the foundation of the machine, on which the other components are mounted. The tailstock is located at the opposite end of the bed from the headstock and provides support for the workpiece. The headstock houses the spindle and motor that drive the rotation of the workpiece.
The carriage moves along the bed and holds the cutting tool, which can be adjusted vertically and horizontally. The cross slide moves perpendicular to the carriage and provides precision movement for the cutting tool. The feed rod is responsible for moving the carriage and cross slide, as well as controlling the depth of the cut.
